Illustrating a Comic Book Poem – Flower

Visually I wanted Flower to reflect fashion illustration. This is something I have experimented with myself on my blog and even during the Appropriation series of Comic Book Poems in Series 1 and Series 2. As this is a Comic Book Poem I could not get away with just doing a Fashion Illustration. For me the text actually takes a back seat here and I wanted the character to be memorable. Therefore her eyes are distinctive and her style is bold. Digital techniques add to the boldness and clean lines and the Flower speech bubble underlines this. In the Writing a Comic Book Poem – Flower blog post I have explained how speech bubbles have been utilised to convey the text and poetry.
