Illustrating a Comic Book Poem – Outside

Outside takes a colourful and illustrative side to creating a Comic a Book Poem. In my artwork I tend to focus on people and communication. This may be because I find it difficult to communicate with people myself. With Outside we see 3 pages that show close ups of individuals faces and on page 3 we focus on their eyes. Communication is done through the eyes and this is why I have focused my work there. The idea of having eye contact creates a personal approach which allows the reader to connect with the Comic Book Poem.
The fact that Outside is colourful stems from the fact that the previous Comic Book Poem – Unflow was in black and white. I purely wanted to add some variety to the work. Unlike Unflow we also have a digital approach to illustration, where I have taken influence from fashion illustration and design. However other than focussing on garments I have centred Outside on people.
