Illustrating a Comic Book Poem – Found Poem 1

For Comic Book Poems I didn’t want to be stuck with creating images with a pencil and pen. I also didn’t want to have to rely on digital techniques. I really wanted to use a variety of different media and styles and this is reflected in Found Poem – 1. Here we see how photography can be used to create a Comic Book Poem.

Using photography in comics is not new, but I wanted to take the concept of found poetry and almost create a found comic. I took images that I photographed in Vancouver Canada. The event was a music festival in the GasTown district. I felt that the images did reflect the content in a way that presented the idea of a found comic and did not feel to abstract or self indulgent.
As this is entitled Found Poem – 1, I also wanted to leave the concept open so I could create more comics in the future using photographs.
