Writing a Comic Book Poem – Appropriation Part 1

The text for Appropriation Part 1 centres on the idea of photography and more specifically portrait photography. I was exploring different ways in which we can capture a face with the lens. The idea of Appropriation is to take something that already exits and make something new from it. The title also refers to the art style which will be described in the following Illustrating a Comic Book Poem – Appropriation Part 1 blog post.

Appropriation Part 1

I’ve been taking Photos for a while now
and seen so many different faces.
Each and everyone stares into something
but the lens reveals the meaning.

SNAP. A window into a loud memory.
SNAP. A development just for a second
It shows the terrible times together,
because things change and things keep on moving.
The film will not hide any left details.
An album, photobook ready for your lazy left eye.
